CPSO INVESTIGATES PEDESTRIAN FATALITY IN SULPHUR

At approximately 6:00 p.m. on November 23, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a call in the 1800 block of Swisco Rd. in Sulphur in reference to a man on a bicycle being hit by a car.

 

The investigation revealed the cyclist, Dillon Dassinger, 18, Sulphur, was riding his bicycle in the middle of the eastbound lane when a car hit him from behind, knocking him into the westbound lane where another car hit him.

 

Dassinger was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

In accordance with Louisiana state law, standard toxicology testing will be performed on both drivers, but impairment is not suspected at this time.

 

There was no taillight on Dassinger’s bicycle as required by state law.
